Overview
Balanced XLR3 to unbalanced RCA adapter — collapses a 3-pin balanced signal (pin 2 hot, pin 3 cold, pin 1 ground) into a single RCA hot + ground. Pin 3 is typically grounded inside the adapter to avoid leaving the negative phase floating.
Use case: connecting a pro-audio XLR-out device (mixer, interface, balanced DAC) to a consumer RCA-input preamp or integrated amp. Loses the balanced-line noise rejection, but accepts the signal cleanly.
For the opposite direction (consumer RCA → balanced XLR3) a transformer-isolated converter is required, since RCA can’t drive a true differential signal.
