About this connector
Pentaconn Ear is the IEM-side counterpart to the 4.4 mm balanced source connector — also developed by Nippon Dics, also under the Pentaconn brand. The design brief was a premium-feel, mechanically-reliable IEM connector that addressed the dual failure modes of older standards: the loosening MMCX socket and the bent / corroded 0.78 mm 2-pin.
Two contact pins inside a sleeved housing; gold-plated; rated for thousands of mate cycles. Adopted as the IEM-side standard on selected flagship IEMs — the tribrid flagship and the electrostatic IEM both use it.
Native pairing with the monocrystal silver IEM cable — both ends Pentaconn (4.4 mm source, Pentaconn Ear sink) for a fully spec-compliant signal chain.
