Overview
The reverse-direction balanced adapter: 4.4 mm Pentaconn female receptacle to 2.5 mm TRRS male plug. Polarity-correct L+/L−/R+/R− mapping with shield grounded on the 4.4 mm side; the 5th conductor (chassis ground) is not carried through to the 2.5 mm TRRS since 2.5 mm balanced has no shield pin.
Useful when you own a modern 4.4 mm-terminated cable but need to plug into a legacy 2.5 mm DAP or portable amp. Less common than the inverse adapter since most current production has moved to 4.4 mm.
