IEC 60603-11 — TRS/TRRS Connector Mechanical Standard

International Electrotechnical Commission standard 60603-11 establishes the mechanical and dimensional requirements for the 3.5 mm and 2.5 mm phone-jack family of audio connectors. Covers contact spacing, plug diameter tolerances, retention force, and the dimensional envelope that every compatible plug and jack must conform to.

Defines the geometric envelope but not the signal-pin assignment. The same 3.5 mm TRRS connector body specified here is used by both CTIA and OMTP wiring conventions; this standard guarantees they mate mechanically without dictating which pin does what.
