AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format)

Apple + Electronic Arts’ uncompressed PCM container — the macOS equivalent of WAV with proper metadata tagging support. Audibly identical to WAV; file sizes are the same.

Used primarily in mastering and archival workflows in Apple-based studios. Consumer-side use is rare since ALAC delivers the same audible quality at half the storage.
