Overview
DSD128 — double-rate DSD at 5.6448 MHz, equivalent to 128× the CD sample rate. The doubled sample rate pushes noise-shaped quantization noise further out of the audible band, theoretically improving the noise floor in the 20 Hz – 20 kHz range.
Native DSD128 source material is rare commercially; most DSD128 files are PCM-to-DSD conversions from 24-bit / 88.2 or 96 kHz sources. Genuine DSD128 recordings exist primarily in the audiophile small-label and classical-recording space.
All flagship DACs in the database decode native DSD128. The reference portable DAP handles it through to DSD512.
