Overview
DSD512 at 22.5792 MHz — the upper-bound DSD rate currently supported by consumer hardware. Octuple-rate DSD pushes the noise-shaped quantization spectrum entirely above the audible band; the math says the in-band noise floor is below -160 dBFS.
Audibly indistinguishable from DSD256 in any controlled listening test, but supported by flagship DACs as a marketing flag and as future-proof headroom. File sizes are roughly 6× the equivalent PCM 24/192.
Supported by the reference portable DAP and desktop reference DAC natively. PCM equivalent: PCM 32/384.
