Overview
Polytetrafluoroethylene cable insulation — the audiophile dielectric standard. Dielectric constant of 2.1 (vs ~3.5 for typical PVC), low dielectric loss tangent across the audio band, and continuous-use temperature rating of 260°C.
Reduces the small but measurable dielectric absorption that polar polymer insulations introduce — particularly relevant in interconnects carrying high-impedance signals where dielectric losses can color the upper-midrange.
Standard dielectric in pro-grade interconnects like the balanced XLR3 interconnect and the AES/EBU digital cable.
