Overview
2.5 mm TRRS balanced cable plug — the legacy portable-balanced standard before 4.4 mm Pentaconn displaced it. Brass body with gold plating, solder termination, 14 mm shank length.
Mechanical reliability is the connector’s weak point: the 2.5 mm cross-sectional area is half that of a 4.4 mm plug, and the strain at the cable-to-plug junction is the most-common failure point on 2.5 mm-balanced portable rigs.
Still produced for compatibility with legacy DAPs from 2014–2019. Cable: SPC IEM cable. Bridge to modern 4.4 mm via the 2.5 → 4.4 mm adapter.
