Overview
Full-grain sheepskin pads (also called “protein leather” in some regions). Sheepskin is even softer than lambskin, has visibly finer grain, and ages with a patina rather than cracking. Hand-stitched construction with a high-density memory-foam core.
The acoustic signature is similar to lambskin (warm, bass-boosted, well-isolated) but with a more sumptuous feel on the skin. Often the OEM material on flagship closed-back headphones north of $2,000.
A reasonable upgrade path: stock pads → lambskin → sheepskin → elite fenestrated sheepskin. Best suited to mature flagship closed-backs where every other component is already resolved.
