Tonal effect: the porous fabric is acoustically more transparent than leather pads at the cup-to-ear interface, which raises the apparent upper-midrange by 1–2 dB and reduces the mid-bass boost that comes from a tight closed-back leather seal. Most listeners describe the change as more open and faster, with slightly less low-end weight.
